What a fun weekend!  From top to bottom, start to finish, it was a winner!  Where to start?  The beginning, I suppose; is the most socially acceptable...

We, I...no WE were probably the only family that were kind of, in a way hoping for a government shut down this weekend.  No because we like the idea of only getting half a pay check and the various other not so great things that accompany that, but because the Hubs could maybe stay home with us this weekend.  He travels.  He travels A LOT.  More on that at another time.  Well, we got our wish!  Drill was cancelled and the Daddy stayed home.  Double great because we didn't really shutdown and all those bad things that would've happened hopefully won't now.  How's that for descriptive?  Anyhow, I already had plans for our bestest of bestest friends come down for a tiny family photo shoot and lo and behold, he would be home for it and get to hang out as well.

So, Saturday morning the lovely Jennings clan, Harley, Sarah and Addie came down from Ft. Hood and we hit the booming metropolis of Buda to take some pictures.  I love Buda for their small, old town feel and it makes for some great shots.  Of course having gorgeous subjects helps, and Sarah did a great job coordinating them in white and cowboy boots.  Sweet!  I had been wanting to take pictures down there for a while now, but since Miss H is still so small and can't walk on her own yet (any day though) its tough to make it happen.  There is also a great old Drug Store/Soda Fountain and I knew it would make some cute shots.  Here are a few of what we were able to capture.  These are all SOOC (straight out of the camera), haven't touched them yet but I will be...

It was so fun!  Smiles fueled by the promise of ice cream at the end are the best.  It takes what it takes, right?  It was so nice to catch up with these wonderful friends.  The day was topped off by grilling out for dinner and all of us sitting on our back porch after the kiddos were asleep.  Bonus:  George Clinton and the Parliment Funkadelic {yeah, he's still alive, who knew!?} were playing in the local park.  We are just close enough to hear it perfectly clear from the comfort of our back porch.  That and a little brandy slush made for a great, much-needed, relaxing weekend.
